PROCESS
The early development of Shirrly drew on recycled fabrics and muslin prototypes, a process that not only shaped the final collection but also deepened my exploration of Victorian sewing traditions.
SHIRRLY challenges traditional female stereotypes by rejecting the equation of femininity with softness, submission, or the color pink. Motivated by this resistance, I reimagined vintage aesthetics through a bold, contemporary lens, using striking visuals and assertive color palettes to redefine modern womanhood.
Each piece in the final collection is both adjustable and interchangeable, achieved by reviving the Victorian corded shirring technique and combining it with adjustable metal hardware. This fusion of historical craftsmanship and modern functionality creates garments that embody strength, adaptability, and autonomy, qualities I believe should define femininity today.

The logo for Shirrly originated from a belt buckle sketch I created for my corset design. I rendered it in Rhino3D with glass and metal textures, allowing it to function as both a logo and an object. Its resemblance to Diesel’s iconic metal logo ties directly to my concept—subverting industrial, hyper-masculine branding codes and reimagining them through a contemporary lens of modern femininity.
